Thursday, Nov 12

9:00 am - 2:30 pm

Cost: $30

For more than two decades, the Mission Trainers Forum at ICOM has gathered professors, mission agency and church leaders, trainers, and doctoral researchers for substantive engagement with pressing missiological questions. The Forum was established to foster meaningful dialogue between mission scholarship and mission practice, seeking to strengthen the preparation of future missionaries while addressing the theological, cultural, and training realities shaping global mission today.

In recent years, we have explored questions related to trauma-informed evangelism, Majority World theology, spiritual power, postcolonial leadership formation, and contested understandings of the missionary role within a polycentric Church. This year, we are pleased to welcome Matthew Nance, PhD, who recently defended his dissertation at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies titled: “The Practice of Partnership: Cross-Cultural Relationships and the Struggle for Mutuality.”

Dr. Nance serves as Executive Director of the Christian Holy Land Foundation, working alongside Arabic-speaking congregations and pastors in Israel and Palestine in evangelism, church planting, discipleship, reconciliation, and relief and development ministries, while also promoting education and advocacy in the United States related to the Holy Land. Drawing from both his doctoral research and his ongoing ministry experience, he will help us examine the theological and practical challenges of cultivating genuine mutuality in cross-cultural partnerships shaped by power asymmetries, history, and deeply embedded narratives.

Thursday, Nov 12

An interactive session for missionaries and nonprofit leaders who want practical help — not just theory. After a brief overview of fraud prevention and financial best practices, the conversation will be guided by your questions. Whether it’s QBO, 990s, donor systems, or compliance concerns, bring what you’re facing and let’s work through it together.

Real questions. Clear answers.
